JOHN SPRENTZ
May 17, 1983. 3782 High Street Ecorse, Michigan
My father, John Sprentz, was brutally murdered 17 years ago.
He was leaving his house for work, when someone attacked him with a blunt
instrument. He worked the 2 am to 11 am shift at Great Lakes Steel.
He lived alone. The killer must have been waiting for him, because my
father never showed up for work. His boss became suspicious when my father
did not call, or show up for work. He made repeated calls to his house,
and finally at approx. 9:00 am drove to my father's house to find him dead in
his yard, lying face down in a pool of blood. His pockets were turned
inside out, but his wallet and keys were not taken. There was no entry to
his house.
Family members suspect a dark skinned black man, who was living with a
white woman next door to my father.
Please, if you know any details of the murder of my father, contact
me (Anne Kenworthy) at asprentz@wideopenwest.com We need all the
help we can get, as this is considered a 'cold case". The police
don't want to work on such an old case anymore. I have been told
that my father's bloody clothing is still in the property of the Ecorse Police
Department. I feel with today's technology, there is a good chance
the killer may be identified
from the evidence, but no one seems to want to
pursue this and it costs money that I don't have to hire someone to examine the
evidence.
Our family needs some closure to this. My dad was 56 years old and was the
father to 6 children and 7 grandchildren.
