The purpose of our Second Opinion Review Board is to assist families in understanding what may have happened in the commission of a crime. Our experts will analyze and evaluate all the information provided by you and report back their findings.
In order to fully utilize this free service of The Unsolved Crimes Network you must submit, by mail, as much information and documentation as you have on the crime you would like to have our board consider.
Not all cases submitted are reviewed and families are notified by e-mail whether their case is accepted.
Many times a second opinion can be used to help re-open a cold case or may lead to information missed in the initial investigation.
Our panel of experts include former law enforcement personnel, legal practitioners, forensic scientists and private investigators.
If you believe your case could benefit from a review, please e-mail the basic information and we will contact you for follow-up. The basic information should include the name of the victim, type of crime, date of the crime, investigating agency, disposition of the case at the current time, and the reason you are requesting a review.

A review of the John Sherman case revealed that the reported suicide had many indicators that it was, in fact, a homicide. Despite the passage of time and the loss of key evidence, the board was able to point out numerous indicators, including blood splatter patterns, to support their belief. The report, along with the original case file, was presented to the Sandoval County Sheriff's Department and the case was officially re-opened as a homicide investigation.
